Professor Gary Giss has travelled to 35 countries and attended universities in both London, U.K., and Vienna, Austria, for part of his undergraduate education. Professor Giss is a rock climber and mountaineer, and has climbed to the summit of the Himalayan mountain Cho Oyu (sixth highest mountain in the world at 8,201 meters or 26,906 feet) in the Tibet region of China, which took one month to accomplish. His favorite places visited in China include the Tibet region, the cities of Dali and Lijiang in the Yunnan Province, and the cities of Guilin and Yangshuo in the Guangxi Province. Giss has taught graduate business in the master’s of management program at Boston University for four years. In addition to teaching, he has also served in administrator roles, both as a department chair and dean of academic affairs.
